THE UNIQUE EVENT

For many decades up to now, autumn in Kosice bears witness to an event which over the course of time has become an integral phenomenon of life in this historical metropolis. The word marathon has been heard in this area since 1924, when 8 brave souls, inspired by the olympic marathon in Paris were sent off by Vojtech Bukovsky, founder of the Kosice marathon, on their first great adventure. Today this marathon, the most massive, and one of the most significant events in Slovakia takes proud in the attribute of being the oldest marathon in Europe - only the Boston Marathon in America has written more years into its annals among the continually organized marathons.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE RACE

Welcome to the page which is here to offer you all the necessary information about the current edition of the Kosice Peace Marathon and a chance to register in one of the competitive catagories. So as you may read in detailed entry form we can today in Kosice speak about a typical city marathon with the start and finish line in the absolute center of the city. The two-round course (see map of the route) allows organizers to start off all catagories in a very short succession:

• Marathon 42,195 km
• Half-marathon
• Skaters 20 km
• Handbikers 20 km
• Wheelchair 20 km
• Minimarathon 4,2 km
• Corporate run 4,2 km

It is enough to decide according to your training schedule and/or your courage and experience an atmosphere rarely seen in the world, on a route lined with thousands of thrilled fans, for whom the marathon is an integral part of the life of Kosice.
