JOURNEY TO KOŠICE
There are several ways to get to Košice. The city is located in eastern Slovakia,
has
270 000 inhabitants and is situated on international road and railway crossroad.
A very comfortable way to get to Košice is by air. There are direct lines from Prague,
Wien, London and Dublin. For more information check these useful web sites:

COURSE:
Very fast, flat, completely asphalted, traffic free. Two laps through Košice historic
city centre and parks. Half Marathon participants run 1 lap. The course is IAAF/AIMS
certified and the race is held under the IAAF Rules and Regulations. The 6th IAAF World
Half Marathon Championship in 1997 were held on this course as well. .

5 October, 2008 (Sunday) at 10 a.m., in front of Hotel Slovan (under reconstruction)
FINISH:
Marathon, Half Marathon – Hlavná street, in front of Hotel Slovan
Inline skaters (20km), Handbikers (20km), Wheelchairs (20km) – Peace Marathon Place
TIME LIMIT:
5 hours, The course will be closed at 3 p.m. The limit for 33rd km is 4 hours.
AGE LIMIT:
Marathon and Half Marathon -18 years (born in 1990 and before).
Participation of In-line skaters younger than 18 years is allowed only for
those registered in sport clubs. These competitors have to submit written
approval of their legal representative and the relevant sport club. Participation of competitors
younger than 16 years is strictly forbidden (excluding Minimarathon).
ENTRY FEE AND REGISTRATION:
950,- SKK / 30 EUR for all categories (excluding Minimarathon)
ENTRY FEE DISCOUNT:
We kindly ask all runners to use our web site for registration in maximal possible way.
When paid till 30 June 2008 – 600,- SKK / 20 EUR
When paid from 1 July 2008 to 15 Sept. 2008 – 750,- SKK/ 25 EUR
Registraton will be considered valid only upon evidence of payment of the Entry fee.
The copy of the payment receipt will be required on the presentation in Košice
(excluding payments by credit card). The amount of payment is determined by date of
the money transfer. It will not be possible to pay by credit card during presentation.
The Entry fee is non-returnable. In case runner can not take part
in the race due to health problems, organizer can (on the basis of
the doctor confirmation) prolong the Entry fee to the KPM 2009.

All participants start on their own risk and they are advised to
take out their individual health insurance. Inline skaters must wear a helmet!
Organizers are not responsible for any damages of the property or injuries
associated with travel to/from and stay in the Košice City or the participation in the event itself.

SLOVAK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:
Slovak National will be the part of 85th Košice Peace Marathon organized
in cooperation with the Slovak Athletic Federation.
Instructions for this event will be published on our website.
PRIZE MONEY:
Prize money will be given to the first 10 men and 6 women in the main category and first 3 of each other category listed above.
ENTRY FEE INCLUDES:
Start number, chip, T-shirt, bag, AIMS magazine, bulletin, Pasta Party ticket (Saturday 5 Oct., 2008). Runners will receive a medal (after completing the race within the time limit), result book and certificate.
BONUS FOR MARATHON RUNNERS (42 195 M):
All participants registered for KPM in this royal athletic
discipline will receive in contrast to other categories a branded Mizuno
T-shirt made of a special Dryscience material.
BIB NUMBER WITH THE PARTICIPANT’S NAME:
All participants registered for KPM till 31 August 2008 will receive a bib number with their name and with a flag of their country on it.
SPECIAL OFFERS:
In cooperation with Železničná spoločnosť, a.s. a discount will be offered to all participants of the Košice Peace Marathon travelling by train to and from Košice. The discount is valid only on Slovak domestic railways. Conditions of the discount will be published on our website. Every participant of the Košice Peace Marathon obtains on the presentation a free pass for the city public transit and free entrance to selected museums and galleries, valid from Fri 3 Oct to Sun 5 Oct, 2008.
PERSONAL PHOTO FROM KPM:
Each participant will have the possibility to order his personal photo from KPM. More information will be published on our website.
TIMING:
Time will be measured by ChampionChip.
All runners must have a chip attached to their shoelaces.
Runners will receive one together with their start number
upon payment of a 200 SKK (Slovak crowns) deposit.
Deposit will be given back to the runner after he/she returns
the chip in the finish area, immediately after completing the race.
MARATHON LIVE ON INTERNET:
Complete results service will be available on our website on the day of event and everybody will have the possibility to watch marathon live on intern et from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CET on our website.
CLOAK ROAMS:
Cloak rooms are located iin the indoor swimming pool (Krytá plaváreň, Protifašistických bojovníkov 4, Košice, 500 m from the KPM start). Place your belongings into a plastic bag, mark the bag with your bib number and place it in a locker marked with your bib number. On request, personnel of the swimming pool will deposit the valuables of the runners in the safe deposit box. Organizers are not responsible for any lost or stolen belongings.
REFRESHMENT STATIONS:
Based on the structure of the course (2 x 21 km), refreshment stations are situated as follows: 4,8 km, 9,8 km, 14,7 km, 20,1 km, 25,8 km, 30,8 km, 35,7 km, 41,1 km. Sponging stations with water in plastic glasses will be located between the refreshment stations. Do not throw empty bottles and glasses down the middle of the road; it may cause injuries to competitors running behind you. Every finisher will receive a refreshment pack and beverages.
MEDICAL CARE:
Medical care will be provided by the Rescue service of Košice in the Start and Finish area as well as all along the course.

WE THINK ABOUT DEVOTED MARATHON RUNNERS:
Every runner who ran at least 10 marathons in Košice during years 1989 – 2007 will be given a 50 % discount from Entry fee, which means, that in case of registration and payment of Entry fee until 15 September, 2008, they will pay only 300,-Sk/10 EUR. List of runners entitled to the discount will be published on our website.
JUNIOR RELAY RACE – TRIBUTE TO PAVEL KANTOREK:
An international group of students will run during the Košice Peace Marathon a relay race 42x1km in honor of Pavel Kantorek, who 50 years ago celebrated his first victory of his total three victories in Košice.
MINIMARATHON:
On Sunday 5 October, 2008 there will also start a very popular 4,2 km long minimarathon. More information on this non competitive run can be found on our website.
MUSIC MARATHON:
The marathon weekend brings to the streets of our city a lot of music and entertainment presented by the variety of Slovak and foreign musicians.
HALFMARATHON KOŠICE – SEŇA:
This year the organizers are preparing by now the 6th Half Marathon from Košice to Seňa, which is going to be held on Saturday 21 June, 2008. Come and run on the course on which for long years the Košice Peace Marathon was held.
