In Košice, which is home to the oldest marathon in Europe among other things, you will come across the largest protected urban heritage zone in Slovakia and the oldest coat of arms granted to a town in the whole of Europe. Thousands of visitors pass along its Main Street, one of the most historical as well as the longest promenades in this country, enjoying its beautiful architectur and its stylish cafés and restaurants, all conveniently set out in the heart of the city. The special atmosphere is enhanced in particular by the easternmost Gothic cathedral in Europe, the Cathedral of St. Elizabeth, but also by the alleys and passageways, the parks and the courtyards of the historical buildings in the city centre, all concealing a wealth of interesting treasures.

You must not miss the atmosphere of the “Golden Weekend” at the beginning of October every year, when the city is filled with the tremendous emotion and positive energy associated with the holding of the traditional Marathon in this illustrious metropolis.
